OSUN STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY EDUCATION COMMITTEE VISITS OSCOTECH, COMMENDS RECTOR.

Education Committee of the Osun State House of Assembly, as part of its Oversight Function, visited Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke on Thursday March 8, 2024. The Team led by it's Chairman, Honourable Bajepade Akinloye Sikiru include the Vice Chairman, Honourable Awoyeye Abiola Jeremiah, Honourable Adewumi Adeyemi popularly known as ire kandu, and Honourable Ogunrinade Rotimi Adesola. The Rector Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke led the College Management to receive the visitors. The Rector while welcoming the visiting legislatures, briefed them on the progress and plight of the College. He mentioned the achievements of OSCOTECH at the 2020 Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Exhibition for tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.. OSCOTECH came second overall and first among all Polytechnics. The Rector also reported on few of the flagship innovations and inventions of the college which the College will like to partner with Private Sector to produce for the public. These include GSM Controlled Generator, Remote Controlled Generator, Motion Sensor Entrance Gate and Smart House; among others. Dr. Adegoke further briefed them on giant strides recorded in infrastructural developments in the College, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and from the Internally Generated Revenue to meet the needs of the College. The Rector also mentioned the accreditation of Eleven (11) new courses in 2019 and additional four (4) new courses in 2023. Also, he reported the successful re-accreditation of twenty five (25) existing courses in the College by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2023. In all, he said the College under his leadership has been able to increase the number of programmes in the institution from Sixteen (16) when he took over in 2017to Thirty -Two (32) presently. The Rector identified the major problems facing the College as paucity of funds and shortage of Staff. He appealed to the visiting legislators to assist the College in these critical areas. He concluded by thanking the House Committee on Education for the visit, which he said will afford them the opportunity to have an on-the- spot assessment of the condition of the College. He equally thanked the RT. Honourable Speaker and the entire Osun State House of Assembly (OSHA) for their legislative support to uplift the College. Finally, he lauded His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for the Ninety Million Naira (#90,000,000) support for the 2023 Accreditation exercise and the prompt payment of Staff salary since the Inception of his administration. Responding after the tour of the College, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Honourable Bajepade commends the Rector and his Management team for the progress the College is witnessing. He particularly commended the Rector for the giant strides achieved in infrastructural development and progressive increase in the programmes run by the College.
