Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke has a history of great academic achievements, and today, a leading technology based institution in Nigeria and Africa. Her sojourn into greatness started in January 1982 when the College became a satellite Campus of the Polytechnic, Ibadan. It became autonomous with the signing of the edict establishing it by the first Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke on 12th October, 1992.
The College since then has maintained steady Physical and Academic growth.
The College started with just Management and Engineering courses when it took off as a satellite Campus with Professor Olu Odeyemi as the pioneer Rector.
Moreover, in 2017 when the present Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke took over the mantle of leadership of the College, there were sixteen (16) fully accredited programmes in sixteen (16) departments, under four (4) faculties. Today the College can boast of Thirty-one Programmes in Five Faculties made possible by the efforts of Rector Adegoke's led Management, with the support of the Governing Council and Staff of the Institution:This was so because the Management sought and got approval of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna to commence eleven (11) additional programmes and another four(4) additional programmes in 2019 and 2023 respectively.
OSCOTECH is certainly setting records. Our College is one of the few Polytechnics in Africa running Mechatronics Engineering and the very first in Nigeria to float Water Resources Engineering. We have inventions from the College that can compete with world standards if backed up with the required sponsorship: some of which are being showcased in year 2024 OSCOTECH/OSBC Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) Expo Exhibition.
Exhibition certainly is not new to the College, in fact OSCOTECH came Second of all Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria and First of all Polytechnics in an Exhibition organised by the Federal Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology, Abuja, tagged "Expo 2020" OSCOTECH prepares her students thoroughly for the highly competitive labour market. Emphasis is placed on programmes that are capable of making students self reliant; the College has a well equipped Vocational Centre known as the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Vocational Skills Acquisition and Empowerment (CEVSAE). At this centre, Students can learn vocations they can rely on after graduation. As a matter of fact, the precondition for graduation is that, each student must acquire a skill in any vocation of his or her choice before graduating at both ND and HND levels.
The centre also has provision for training the unemployed, underemployed, retirees, professionals who want to be Certified and people of similar intents in skills required in all workplace for professionalism, entrepreneurship and self reliance. Its curriculum is designed to contain non-conventional training in short courses that are sufficiently current, dynamic and tailored to specific requirements of the present and future. The centre is ever ready to prepare her work force, for today and tomorrow. It is of interest to note that one of such collaborations, is the OSCOTECH/OSBC Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship ( TIE) Expo of 2024.
