In Honour of Professor Olusuyi Odeyemi, OFR (January 19, 1946 – March 6, 2025)

At the Celebration of Life held on Saturday, May 31, 2025

It is with a profound sense of respect, reverence, and deep gratitude that the Management of Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, joins the family, friends, associates, and well-wishers across the globe to celebrate the impactful life and indelible legacy of Professor Olusuyi Odeyemi, OFR.

As a pioneering academic, statesman, innovator, and community leader, Professor Odeyemi's life was a glowing testament to the power of intellect, dedication, and purposeful service to humanity. He was not only a trailblazer in the field of microbiology and environmental science but also a founding pillar in the establishment and shaping of our beloved institution.

Under his visionary leadership as Pioneer Rector of OSCOTECH, Professor Odeyemi laid a solid foundation that has enabled the College to evolve into a centre of academic excellence and technological innovation. His values of integrity, academic rigour, and commitment to societal development remain deeply embedded in the ethos of OSCOTECH today.

Professor Odeyemi’s contributions extended beyond institutional boundaries. As Nigeria’s first biogas inventor, his scientific breakthroughs and environmental advocacy gained international recognition, bringing honour not only to himself but to the state of Osun and Nigeria at large. His distinguished service earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) award.

Beyond his academic and scientific exploits, Professor Odeyemi was a man of culture, of community, and of profound humanity. His leadership in various civic initiatives, his unwavering mentorship to generations of students and scholars, and his passion for sustainable development made him a beacon of excellence whose influence transcended borders.

Today, all arms of OSCOTECH, its Governing Council, Rectorate, Directorate, Deans, Staff, Alumni, and the entire community stand in honour of a man whose legacy is etched not just in our records, but in our hearts.

Though he may have transitioned, Professor Olusuyi Odeyemi's name, works, and ideals shall continue to live on in the halls of learning he built, in the lives he transformed, and in the future he helped shape.

On behalf of the entire OSCOTECH family, we extend our deepest condolences to the Odeyemi family and all those who were privileged to know and work with him. May his memory be a blessing, and may his contributions continue to inspire greatness for generations to come.
