Activities lined up for celebrating the 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke have commenced on Monday 9th December, 2024 with a Press Conference.
The Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke while addressing the pre-convocation press conference said the Press Conference is to kick-start the 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the College. The ceremony is for graduates of 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 Academic Sessions.
According to the Rector, the aim of the College is to produce graduates who can compete with others in any part of the world. The Rector stated that his administration which inherited sixteen (16) programmes in sixteen (16) Departments scattered in for faculties at its inception, has today increased the number of departments and faculties to 32 and 5 respectively. Dr. Adegoke further stated that graduands from the institution have been trained in entrepreneurial courses which can make them self employed after graduating from the College.
Dr. Adegoke identified the major challenge facing the College as dwindling number of students, owing to the economic reality of the moment and the policies of the regulatory body. He however said the college will increase its students intake through the introduction of the Open Distance Flexible e-learning (ODFeL) of which it has secured licence from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Activities lined up for the Convocation continues on Tuesday 10th December with the Students' Union Day/Novelty match and Alumni Night. On Wednesday 11th December, there will be Convocation Lecture and Rector's Cocktail following immediately after the Lecture. The climax of the Convocation activities comes up on Thursday, 12th December when there will be awards of Diplomas, Certificates as well as conferment of the College fellowship awards on four distinguished individuals.
At the press conference were members of the College Management, Deans, Directors, members of staff of the College, as well as the representatives of the Students' Union.
