Matriculation Day

I welcome you all to the official website of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke on www.oscotechesa-oke.edu.ng

It is a thing of joy for me to once again resurface as first the Ag. Rector of this great institution before my confirmation on 24th July, 2012. I give all glory to God and the pragmatic Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The college website is open and accessible 24 hours to the general public and I will like all stakeholders to take advantage of this to get in touch with the Management of the Institution at any point in time.

Let me in the meantime take you through an historical excursion of the college since inception in 1993.

Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, an offshoot of the Polytechnic Ibadan became fully autonomous through the signing of the enabling law by the first Executive Governor of the State his Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke on October 12, 1992 after the creation of Osun State from the old Oyo State.

The vision of the founding fathers was for the college to produce technicians who will make an important contribution to the social and economic development of the Country and Osun State in particular.

The College is to also provide for studies, training and development of Technicians in Engineering and Environmental Studies as well as in other spheres of learning.

The College provide courses of higher Education mainly at the intermediate level offered as appropriate on a full time or Part-time basis. Courses are devised and are continually reviewed to meet the present and future needs of industries, commerce and public services as well as career and personal needs of students.

The College adopts the faculty system of structuring the academic departments. The concept is to make for easier work co-ordination and management. At present there are four (4) Faculties comprising 16 departments spread all over the faculties of Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science and Management Sciences.

At present, the College is running National Diploma and Higher National Diploma as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning's.

The Institution has secured accreditation with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in all the programmes.

The institution also secured professional accreditation with ICAN, CIBN, SURCN and NISEV (Nigerian Institute of Estate Valuers). This particular feature has enabled our students to be gainfully employed in their chosen career.


The management under my leadership with the support of the Governing Council, here explore other opportunities to enhance the quality of our graduates following the controversy surrounding the HND certificate to seek collaboration with other institutions abroad to enable our graduates have easy assess to Postgraduate Degrees and a top up of between Nine to Eighteen Months to have a B.Sc Degree before proceeding for their Masters and PhD Degrees.

The Chairman Governing Council, Prof. Layi Fagbenle led a delegation of the college to UK, Malaysia, USA and Canada to have collaboration discussion with some of Institutions in September, 2013 and July 2014. We have signed collaboration agreement with the University of Sussex, in Eastbourne Brighton, UK and some of our staff members are already undergoing PhD programmes.

Arrangement is also at the advanced stage for the perfection and signing of collaboration / Memorandum of Understanding with the underlisted Universities in the UK, USA, Malaysia and Canada.

Also, we are expediting the donation of equipment from some institutions in the United States of America through our designated and appointed agents.


The college has successfully designed constructed, installed and commissioned Electrical Power Simulator equipment for one of the Polytechnics in Nigeria.-

  • Grass Slasher etc.


The institution has maintained an all round improvement in the quality of staff, quality of teaching and administrative expertise through the sending of staff to seminars and workshops at local and international levels through TERTFUND sponsored.

The institution has sponsored two of its staff to the University of Sussex, United Kingdom to pursue a Master of Science Degree Programme in Multimedia applications and virtual environments and several staff members have gone for international workshops and conferences.

As at today four (4) staff members are currently undergoing post graduate training in the United Kingdom.


The institution is planning to introduce new programmes in;

  • Agric Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Mechatronis Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronic with Instrumentation and Control Options And more technological based courses.

A visit to the campus in recent times will prove the founding fathers right for citing such an institution in Esa-Oke and to an extent a fulfilment of a vision of a technological institution with a difference in terms of structural facilities already on ground.


The whole world has become a global village; hence the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke is the first polytechnic in the South West to be on the internet.


As a result of our outstanding performance, the Institution received several awards, as highlighted below;-

  • Award of Excellence to Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke for its role in technological advancement in Nigeria by Nigerian Union of Journalists Tribune Chapel -2006.
  • Best Academic Institution of the year award by Osun State Victory groups 2010.
  • Engr. Babalola Adubi - Chairman, Governing Council 2000-2003Exam Ethics International Award for Best Practice in Polytechnic Education in Africa; The entrenchment of examination ethics by the College Management under my Leadership qualified us for the 2012 Exam Ethics award for Best Practices in Polytechnic Education, awarded by Exam Ethics Marshal International in Ghana to Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke in December, 2012. Two Polytechnics were so awarded in Africa, the other being from Ghana.
  • WASU Award;- It is in appreciation of the contribution we are making to Technological Education in Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke that the West African Students Union, a Sub-Regional Students Union Government with representatives from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Togo, Burkina-Faso, Guinea and Nigeria presented a Kwame Nkrumah Award of excellence to (Rector) we and formally inducted me into the Nkrumah Hall of fame in April, 2014.
  • Election into WAEC National Committee; I have also been elected as a member of the Nigerian National Committee of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for a two year tenure from March 2014 to march 2016, representing all Rectors, both State and Federal in Nigeria in the committee.
  • In addition to the above, the Osun Business men Club on 25th June, 2014, gave me a distinguished Excellence Award at a very colourful ceremony in Osogbo.
